Charlie Colin, one of the founding members of the band Train, has reportedly died unexpectedly at the age of 58.
The news was confirmed by Colin’s mother, who told TMZ he had slipped and fell in the shower while house-sitting for friends in Belgium. It is unclear when the accident may have occurred, but his mother said he wasn’t found until his friends returned to the home five days ago.
Colin was one of the founding members of Train, forming the band in the mid ’90s in San Francisco and playing bass alongside fellow band members Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood.
He stayed with the band until leaving in 2003, winning two Grammy Awards the year prior for Best Rock Song and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s). Train received mainstream success for songs like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey, Soul Sister.”

The musician’s mother said he has been living in Brussels and teaching a music master class at a conservatory prior to his death, also working at a studio and finishing up making music for a film.
