Pang and Network 10 took a bold gamble with their new late-night show, ‘Sam Pang Tonight’, which launched last month.

While the debut episode initially sparked skepticism, it marked a significant moment, the return of the late-night format to Australian screens for the first time since Rove left the airwaves in 2009.

Despite lukewarm critical reviews, ‘Sam Pang Tonight’ pulled off an impressive feat, delivering Network 10 its biggest audience for a new show since 2022.

According to news.com.au, the premiere drew in a massive 799,000 viewers, though ratings for recent episodes have dipped, with the latest hitting a low of 467,000.

But the gamble is paying off as Network 10 has officially announced that the late night show will return later this year for a second run of eight episodes.

Love it or not, the variety-comedy show has proven it’s got what it takes to stand out in Australia’s late-night scene.

In statement, Network 10 told viewers to “expect more laughs as Sam takes on the week’s news and welcomes a bunch more guests, including local legends, engaging experts, and comedy mates playing the part of Special Guest Announcer. Will the crowd-favourite Wheel of Segments return? Hard to say, but turns out there’s no shortage of people willing to be pushed into a Christmas tree.”

Pang couldn’t be more excited that the show has officially been green-lit for a brand-new season.

“I’m very grateful to Channel 10 for their support and commitment to the show and giving me the opportunity to continue doing something I love,” he said.

The major update come as the network tries to revamp its programming lineup in response to declining ad revenue and the conclusion of some of its iconic reality franchises.
