Tas retail starring

Tasmania's retail sector is starring on the national stage, with 0.7% growth for June in trend terms, higher than any other state or territory in new Australian Bureau of Statistics data.

It's well ahead of the nation as a whole where the month's increase was 0.3% seasonally adjusted [0.4% trend estimate].

Figures for the second quarter nationally rose by 1.5%,  the best result since early 2013.

The strong results are thought to be linked to a significant improvement in the nation's job market.
