The State Government has launched in independent review into the response to the extreme weather event in August, which causes substantial damage to power supplies and infrastructure, particularly in the North-West and North of the state.
At its peak, 47,000 TasNetworks customers were affected, including more than 12,000 on the North-West Coast.
Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, says the review was an important step in ensuring Tasmania was well-prepared to respond to future extreme weather events.
Mr Duigan says the review will examine the operational responses of TasNetworks and how it ties into the Government’s broader emergency management framework.
He says it will also focus on contingency planning, incident management, restoration of supply, and recovery support for affected households, businesses, and communities.
The findings and recommendations will be delivered in March next year, with Mr Duigan saying the review will also be made publicly available.
