Tasmania’s strongest regional basketball competition, the NWBU tips off for season 2025 on Friday night.
The opening round will see Burnie at home against Devonport, Latrobe taking the road trip to Smithton, Somerset hosting Wynyard, and Ulverstone at home to Penguin in the Central Coast Derby.

Women’s games start at 7pm at all venues, with the men at 8.30, with men’s premier Penguin chasing three flags in a row.
In what will be a big week for the competition, the NWBU 50th anniversary gala dinner will be held at the Paranaple Centre in Devonport tomorrow night.
The event will include announcement of the five men’s and five women’s teams of the decade, as well as two 50-year all-star teams for men and women.
