Accommodation occupancy rates on the North-West Coast are starting to improve as we move to wards summer and the peak tourism season, according to the latest report from the Australian Hospitality Association.
However, according to the AHA report, the North-West is still has the lowest occupancy rates in the state.
The report says the statewide occupancy rate for November sat at 75.7 per cent of rooms, but the North-West rate was only 53.4 per cent, well below the North, South and East.
The region’s annual occupancy rate to date this year is also the lowest in the state, at just 59.9 per cent, compared to the state average of 73.4 per cent.
AHA Tasmanian president Steve Old says the overall rates are pleasing, showing growth on the previous year, but more needs to be done to attract more visitors to the North-West.
