Local Government Minister Nic Street has called for patience as the Local Government Code of Conduct complaints against embattled Waratah-Wynyard councillor Darren Fairbrother are dealt with.
Fairbrother was convicted in May of exposing himself to a woman and her son on a Boat Harbour beach year and was fined and had his name placed on the sex offender register.

He has since refused to resign, despite numerous code of conduct complaints, claiming he doesn’t have to under the current provisions of the Local Government Act and the council can’t sack him.
Mr Street says he can’t sack Fairbrother either but he’s hopeful the code of conduct proceedings will be finalised soon.
