An iconic Coastal pub will get a $1.5 million makeover, if a planning application is approved by the Central Coast Council.
The Neptune Grand Hotel at Penguin is also one of the oldest on the Coast, built in 1924, replacing the original hotel on the same site, built in 1887.
It is listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, so any upgrades will have to comply with heritage planning laws.
Owner, the Goodstone Group, also operates hotels and bottle shops at Devonport, Spreyton, Ulverstone, Somerset and Smithton, is also in the process of upgrading the Seabrook Hotel at Somerset.
In its development application, Goodstone says the upgrade at Penguin will complement the existing building , while improving functionality and pedestrian access.
