An aquatic fundraiser to help improve the health, well-being and resilience of remote communities will be held on the North-West Coast for the first time later this month.
The Paddle Against Poverty will take place between Turners Beach and Devonport on March 29, as one of only three locations around the country to host the event.
Other Paddles Against Poverty will be held in New South Wales at Wollongong, and in Western Australia at Perth.
The Turners Beach paddle will finish at the Mersey Bluff Beach in Devonport, a distance of 12 km, with a barbecue lunch to follow.
Paddlers can use a rescue or racing board, stand-up paddle board or surf ski or kayak and are required to raise a minimum of $100 to participate.
Surf rescue boats and jet-ski support will ensure the safety of participants, withe paddle expected to take up to four hours for some.
