The Sydney Swans are said to be getting ready to announce that coach John Longmire is leaving the club.
Reports surfaced on Tuesday morning indicating that the premiership-winning coach has informed the club of his immediate resignation.
AFL journalist Mitch Cleary is reporting that Longmire is expected to meet with senior players to communicate his decision.
Longmire will this afternoon formally announce he is quitting as coach of Sydney despite having a year to run on his contract.

The Swans have only confirmed that a significant announcement will be made at their SCG headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
In recent years, assistant coach Dean Cox has been prepared as Longmire’s successor and declined the opportunity to coach West Coast in August following Adam Simpson’s departure.
Longmire assumed the coaching role from Paul Roos in 2011, leading the Swans in 334 matches, including 194 victories. The 53-year-old guided the Swans to three minor premierships in 2014, 2016, and 2021, and coached Sydney to five grand finals in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2022, and 2024.
His tenure includes one premiership victory when Sydney won the 2012 AFL Grand Final, resulting in a grand final record of one win and four losses.
