A former Bass MP who was in Tasmania’s parliament when poker machine reform was previously attempted has spoken out about community resentment at the potential loss of their freedoms.

The Liberal government’s infuriated anti-poker machine crusaders by putting a mandatory pre-commitment gaming card on ice in favour of a future national approach.

“What about the people who legitimately play machines, bet on horses, bet on dogs, go on online gambling, now I don’t, but a lot of people do, it is their right, it is their money, it is their choice, I am being told nearly on a daily basis why are we being told what we can do with our money.”
