Motorists using the Bass Highway are being warned to expect delays as roadworks ramp-up over the next three months during the warmer weather.
Infrastructure and Transport Minister Michael Ferguson says resurfacing works will be undertaken at a number of locations on the highway between Burnie and Launceston between now and late March.
However, he says to minimise the disruption to road users, there will only be one site at a time being resurfaced on the busier sections between Burnie and also the Latrobe to Launceston stretch.
Mr Ferguson says traffic may be stopped for short periods during resurfacing.
He says longer term construction works will also be undertaken over the next three months, with more information to follow.
Mr Ferguson says the State Government has committed $754 million for road construction and maintenance this financial year and a record $2 billion over four years.
